Overwatch‘s beta will take a break from December 10 until some time in January, at which point more players will be added.
Overwatch, Blizzard’s take on the class-based FPS, is currently undergoing an extremely limited closed beta. If you were lucky, you got to sample it for a bit during the stress test weekend, but most fans are stuck watching streams and hoping. Well, I’ve got good news and bad news. The bad news is that the game’s closed beta will take a break from December 10 until some time in January. The good news is that more players will be added at that time, so keep your fingers crossed!
“We will be bringing the Overwatch Closed Beta offline for an extended break beginning on Thursday, December 10 at 9:00 a.m. PST,” wrote Blizzard in a blog post. “During this downtime, we’re looking forward to making more improvements to the game, as well as continuing to work on in-development features like spectating and progression.”
If you’re currently a part of the closed beta, you’ll still be apart of it when it comes back up in January. As for potential newcomers: “The exact timing and how many players are invited will be determined by our testing needs,” said Blizzard.
As for the next “open beta” stress-test weekend, Blizzard didn’t have any more news but at the end of the last one, it stated that the next weekend wouldn’t be until some time in 2016.
I got a chance to try out the game during said weekend, and I had an absolutely blast. Especially after having come straight out of another, less-fun team-based online shooter… I’m really looking forward to the chance to play it again!
Overwatch will launch in Spring, 2016 for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
