Pac-Man World Re-Pac, a Pac-Man World remake, was announced during the June 2022 Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase, and it’s coming to PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S with a release date of August 26, 2022. This 3D, yellow pellet-eating platformer was first launched on PlayStation 1 in 1999 as one of the gaming icon’s first leaps into the three-dimensional space. The remake is packed with more than platforming and promising other unique mechanics to shake things up throughout your time with it. It’s a full Pac-Man adventure coming to PC and consoles later this year, and you can get your first taste in the announcement trailer below.
Pac-Man World Re-Pac looks like a remake that isn’t shy about staying true to the original’s style. Along with a fresh coat of paint across the board, players can enjoy a host of updated features as they embark on a journey to Ghost Island. Some highlights include improved UI, fine-tuned mechanics, and a 3D maze-filled Maze Mode. The main offering, available through the Pac-Man World Re-Pac Quest Mode, is an animated-but-treacherous adventure to save Pac-Man’s kidnapped family.
Trounce enemies with PAC-DOTS, the rev-roll, the butt-bounce and … a giant PAC-MAN?! From high-speed chases to galactic escapades, you’ll explore all sorts of zany levels. Save the PAC-FAM in PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC, launching on Nintendo Switch on Aug. 26.
Pac-Man fans have had a surprisingly full year, with Pac-Man Museum+ bringing the ultimate collection of arcade classics in May. It’s a great bundle of 14 games, but it notably left out Pac-Man World. Thankfully, Pac-Man World Re-Pac is only a few months away, so stay tuned for more information as we move closer to launch.
