Sony has announced that it will be holding its next digital PlayStation 5 showcase on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET. The company didn’t reveal much of anything, but the showcase will be 40 minutes and contain updates on the latest from PlayStation Worldwide Studios and its third-party development partners.

PlayStation 5 was officially revealed this past June, and we know most details about the hardware now, as well as what its game cases look like and the fact that it is reportedly not backwards compatible with PS3, PS2, and PS1 titles.

This past week, the prices of both of Microsoft’s next-generation consoles, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, were finally revealed. Now, it’s possible that Sony will follow suit and announce the prices of the standard PlayStation 5 and also the disc-less Digital Edition. Speculation abounds about what the price of the consoles will be, especially after Series S’s competitive $299 pricing and Series X’s reasonable $499 pricing. It would be surprising if no prices were announced on Wednesday, considering how close to the holiday season we are.

In addition to showing games, hopefully this event will also confirm the PS5’s release date, as Sony is reportedly aiming for a mid-November launch. Microsoft has already committed to a Nov. 10 release date for its next-generation consoles.
