Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire First Gameplay Footage

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire‘s short teaser shows off the game’s mascots in the in-game engine.

Nintendo teased that we’d get our first glimpse of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire gameplay footage today. It did deliver on that promise… but it really is just a glimpse. The very short 39 second clip simply shows version mascots Groudon and Kyogre in the in-game engine.

Both legendary Pokemon perform their special abilities, which look pretty cool, but don’t actually have any sound effects yet. There also isn’t any background music to accompany the video. A somewhat annoying rumbling sound can be heard, although the video says that it won’t be in the final game.

It seems very “placeholder-y” for a game that is supposed to be coming out in November. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to see these Pokemon rendered in X and Y’s 3D engine, but I wonder if they can get the game up to snuff in time for its release.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata previously stated that the upcoming games would be “full remakes,” meaning the pair of games will not be a spin-off or a sequel to the original Ruby and Sapphire.

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will release worldwide in November, 2014.
