It’s hard to believe another Pokémon title is coming out this year. Pokémon Legends: Arceus released early this year, yet this November Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will launch on Nintendo Switch. The Pokémon Company has been drip-feeding details on the upcoming games on its YouTube page. This tradition continues today, as a lengthy new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer has revealed picnics, washing Pokémon, and a TM Machine as new features, alongside a new Pokémon named Farigiraf.
Check out the latest trailer for the titles below:
14 minutes? That’s a lot of information for the imminent adventures.
Details for Farigiraf, Picnics, Washing Pokémon, & TM Machine in Scarlet and Violet
First up, we have the announcement of the new Pokémon, Farigiraf. A Normal/Psychic type, this Pokémon has had the head from its body and head from its tail fuse together as one. Horrifying. It has a new ability called Cud Chew. This allows for two uses of a single Berry when eaten. Another Ability it has is Armor Tail, which makes opposing Pokémon unable to use priority moves. Here are more details from The Pokémon Company:
Farigiraf
Category: Long Neck Pokémon
Type: Normal/Psychic
Height: 10’6″ (3.2 m)
Weight: 352.7 lbs. (160 kg)
Ability: Cud Chew / Armor Tail
In addition to Farigiraf’s reveal, some new features were shown off. Players can now have picnics in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet while out adventuring. The picnics are customizable, with gamers being able to change their tablecloth, cup, water bottle, and other items’ designs. Sandwiches can also be made to heal your Pokémon and grant them effects. Picnics can be enjoyed with other players, as well.
Another new feature is the ability to wash Pokémon at picnics, after they get dirty during long journeys or after battles. This will strengthen their bond with you and heal their HP.
Last but not least, the TM Machine was unveiled for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. These appear at Pokémon Centers and allow trainers to make their own TMs using League Points and materials dropped by Pokémon after battle.
These all sound like great additions to the series. I especially like the aspect of making sandwiches, as you can mess up if you don’t balance them properly. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long to try out these new mechanics. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet launch on November 18.
