The Pokémon Company has revealed the latest new addition to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, a blue-and-gray Poison/Normal type named Grafaiai. Two videos posted to the company’s YouTube channel highlight the monster, which looks to be a “very territorial” monkey Pokémon with colorful toxin powers. You’ll normally find Grafaiai wandering on its own as it struggles to get along with other Pokémon. It’s also nocturnal, so don’t expect to see any of these creatures walking around in the sunlight. Here is a quick overview:
Category: Toxic Monkey Pokémon
Type: Poison/Normal
Height: 2’4″ (0.7 m)
Weight: 60 lbs. (27.2 kg)
Ability: Unburden / Poison Touch
When you do spot a Grafaiai, you’ll probably notice that it’s used the dash of color on its fingers to mark its poisonous territory on trees. These rainbow drawings attract Bug Pokémon, which are then paralyzed by the toxin’s effects. As far as Grafaiai’s use in combat, The Pokémon Company says players can use its toxic spit and sharp claws to get in quick and incapacitate opponents. This toxic monkey is moody, quick, and dangerous, and you can get your first look at them in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in the reveal videos below.
Information on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has continued to roll in since the latest generation of Pokémon saw its reveal in February. Most recently, we learned about the new Terastallize mechanic, how Legendary Pokémon have become transportation, and how the games feature three mainline stories. Stayed tuned for all the new monster reveals before Pokémon Scarlet and Violet launch for Nintendo Switch come November 18.
