Another Ubisoft surprise may have been spoiled, with a remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time appearing on the Russian Uplay store. The leak was spotted by a reader of Russian outlet DTF, which published supplied images and videos without being able to independently verify them. Despite the absence of evidence, the project has previously been discussed by Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, among others, following a retail leak last month.
The brief promotional video shared by DTF looks rough — more like a remaster than a remake — though that may be in part due to the low resolution:
So far, only Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has been discussed as part of this leak, though that game is part of a four-game arc. It, and its PS2-era sequels Warrior Within and The Two Thrones, were previously remastered for a 2010 PS3 launch. Although, it’s notable that some past reports had stated thought that it was a 2D Prince of Persia that was being remade.
This remake is expected to be officially unveiled at the Ubisoft Forward event later today. The event will seemingly be headlined by the re-reveal of open-world fantasy game Gods & Monsters, which has been rebranded as the less interesting Immortals: Fenyx Rising. Watch Dogs: Legion will also feature ahead of its launch next month, though Skull & Bones will not make an appearance.
