The Hawken team has released a half-dozen new images as proof that the game is still alive.
It’s been awhile since we’ve heard anything about Hawken, the fast-paced, first-person multiplayer mech combat game that first came to light in early 2011. As indie games in development have a way of falling off the map without so much as a peep, you could be forgiven for wondering if the same unfortunate fate had befallen this one. Fortunately, that’s not the case.
“First and foremost let us apologize for the extended silence on our end,” the team wrote on the Hawken blog. “We’d like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as the Adhesive crew lays low and continues work on Hawken. For a few different reasons we can’t currently share specific details or progress on the game, the team is still engaged in ‘stealth mode’ for a little while longer.” The developers have “taken fan suggestions to heart” and while they’re not yet ready to reveal any big secrets, they are working to make the game a deeper, although still strictly multiplayer, experience. They also promised “significant news” over the next several months. In the meantime, here’s something to look at!
The first of the above images is a rendering of a mech, obviously, while the next two are concepts. Images three through six, however, are actual screenshots, at least according to their Facebook categorization, and to my eyes that’s pretty damn awesome. Can’t wait to get my hands on this; wait I must, however, as no release date has yet been announced.
