PS Plus Sweetens the Pot With Spec Ops: The Line

March is shaping up to be a good month for PlayStation Plus users.

During March, Sony will be adding five games to the PlayStation Plus Instant Game collection lineup, presumably in a bid to convince me that actually buying games is a waste of money.

The following games will be released at various intervals throughout March (the list order is random):

  • Spec Ops: The Line (PS3)
  • Joe Danger 2: The Movie (PS3)
  • Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention (PS Vita)
  • The Cave (PS3)
  • Tekken 6 (PSP; Supported on PS Vita)

As usual, PlayStation Plus users can download and play the games for free (not counting the cost of the PS Plus subscription) for as long as their PS Plus subscription lasts. A PS Plus subscription will run you $50 for a year. Considering the games on show (including the excellent Vanquish, which was added last month), that’s not a bad deal.

The March update also comes with the usual assortment of deals and sales. Charming Vita platformer Dokuro can be had for $9.99 or $6.99 for PS Plus members (normally $19.99). Blazblue: Continuim Shift Extend is being dropped to $17.49 and $12.24 respectively (normally $24.99). Other discounted games include Orgarhythm, Sine Mora, Retro City Rampage and Kyntt Underground.

The focus on Vita titles isn’t a coincidence; this march marks the handheld’s first birthday. To celebrate (or perhaps commiserate, considering the poor device’s abysmal sales) Sony is offering $10 store credit for every $50 you spend on PSN. The credit will be sent to you on or around April 12th.
