Replaced interview Igor Gritsay and Yura Zhdanovich of Sad Cat Studios retro-futuristic action platformer game Escapist delayed 2023 Ukraine Russia war

Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Belarus-based Sad Cat Studios has delayed its retro-futuristic action-adventure platformer, Replaced, to 2023 on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and Xbox Game Pass. The studio has developers from both Belarus and Ukraine, and the conflict has understandably affected the development.

“The priority for Sad Cat was for the safety of the team and their families,” stated an announcement to social media. “As a result, part of the team has now relocated and work has only recently restarted on Replaced.” The release date delay to 2023 will help ensure Replaced launches in the best state possible without compromising the health and well-being of the team behind it. Sad Cat has thanked its fans for their patience. You can read the Replaced delay statement in full below.

Replaced was announced in June of last year as a Blade Runner-like action platformer with slick combat and dense atmosphere. It was an impressive debut that left an impression on players thanks not only to its impressive gameplay, but the striking art style that accompanied it. We caught up with Sad Cat co-founder Igor Gritsay and game director Yura Zhdanovich shortly after the reveal to talk about Replaced and all it has to offer. The team is cooking up something exciting, but we’re happy to wait a bit longer if it means that everyone at Sad Cat stays safe.
