Rumor claims Sylvester Stallone will direct and star in a final Rambo adventure
It’s been a long road for John J. Rambo the tormented Vietnam Veteran hero portrayed by Sylvester Stallone across four ultra-violent action films. Now, rumors have once again surfaced that the road will go on for one more adventure.
ComingSoon reports that Stallone is preparing to once again direct and star as Rambo for a fifth and final installment, Last Blood. Plot and character details are not mentioned, but previous (stalled) attempts at a fifth Rambo were said to have involved Rambo battling a domestic-terrorist militia, Rambo taking on the Mexican Cartels and a Rambo-fied adaptation of James Byron Huggins’ novel Hunter – which would’ve found Rambo being brought in to take down a renegade killer who has been transformed into a monstrous creature by genetic experiments.
Debuting as a highly-skilled but deeply-troubled veteran who waged a one-man-war on an abusive Sheriff’s Department in the dark 1982 thriller First Blood, 1985’s Rambo: First Blood Part II saw the character redeemed into a straightforward action-hero sent to rescue remaining POWS from Vietnam. In Rambo III (1988) he helped fight the Soviet Army in Afghanistan, only to re-emerge 20 years later (but no less deadly) to help rescue Burmese missionary workers in 2008’s Rambo. Most recently, it was revived as a video-game.
