Resident Evil Netflix Series Teaser Trailer Looks Like a Walking Dead Spinoff

Netflix live-action Resident Evil teaser trailer release date July 14, 2022 Wesker Lance Reddick

Netflix has released the teaser trailer for the live-action, Wesker family-centric Resident Evil series, which will premiere on July 14. It offers quick glimpses at Lickers, zombie dogs, and a lot of generic, sterile facilities that probably belong to Umbrella, but it feels like it’s lacking the exciting cheese that typically gets baked into Resident Evil games. It looks more like an action-heavy spinoff of The Walking Dead or maybe even a 28 Days Later offshoot.

The Resident Evil Netflix teaser trailer starts in 2022 in New Raccoon City. It introduces Billie and Jade, the daughters of Wesker (Lance Reddick). After that, it segues to a heavily CGed post-apocalyptic 2036 London, and the zombies show up in force. The rest of the trailer is a bunch of fast cuts to explosions and people running and screaming, and it’s not much to go off of — hence teaser trailer. It’s entirely possible the series will be much than this generic trailer suggests.

As previously reported, this series will receive eight one-hour-long episodes, and Supernatural writer Andrew Dabb is the showrunner, executive producer, and writer. The cast includes Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez, Ahad Raza Mir, Connor Gossatti, and Turlough Convery.

The recent theatrical movie release Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City was reviled by critics, though audience reception was slightly more lenient. We’ll find out this July if the live-action Resident Evil Netflix series delivers a more compelling zombie experience.
