If you’re excited for Resident Evil Village, you’ll be happy to know that Capcom just dropped an extended look at gameplay, and a playable demo called Maiden is launching exclusively on PlayStation 5 today. Our longest look at the latest entry in the publisher’s bestselling survival horror series arrived during today’s Resident Evil Showcase. The gameplay shows us how both ranged and melee combat play into the eighth installment, with players now able to guard against enemy attacks. You can watch some of the new features Capcom is bringing to Resident Evil Village below (beginning at 34:50).
The Maiden demo, on the other hand, is a separate experience from Resident Evil Village, serving as a way for players to get a sneak peek of the game’s setting on PlayStation 5, starting today. Capcom adds that the demo is a great way to showcase 3D audio on PlayStation 5, with the publisher promising an extremely tense experience that features no combat. A second, separate demo will arrive this spring and come to all platforms.
Resident Evil Village was shown off for the first time in June 2020. Preorders have opened for when it launches on May 7, 2021 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S.
