Ring of Pain is a roguelike card crawler made by Simon Boxer and Twice Different. In the game, you will delve deep into a dungeon, which is made up of randomly generated cards from a deck and arranged in a circular shape, with the hopes of getting out. Along the way, you will be guided by the terrifying Owl Friend and questioned by the mysterious darkness as you get closer to escaping the Ring of Pain.
To progress through the dungeon, you must decide between sneaking past or attacking enemies to reach an exit. The outcome of either action is always displayed on screen, creating a strong emphasis on making decisions in a way that felt strategic and meaningful.
The game is ultimately a unique card-based experience that boasts a gripping atmosphere and easy-to-understand gameplay without compromising on challenge. It is a whole lot of weird and a whole lot of fun.
Ring of Pain is out now for $19.99 on PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch with a 10% launch discount.
