Lara Croft gets back to climbing mountains and raiding ruins on Nov. 10, 2015.
The last Tomb Raider was one of the more exciting video game reboots I’ve played, taking the classic Lara Croft action-exploration romp and building an origin story with it. That’s why I’m excited to see where this version of the character goes next in the sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider – and we don’t have long to wait. As revealed at this year’s E3, Lara will be climbing mountains, spelunking caves, and raiding ruins on Nov. 10, 2016.
Microsoft also took the opportunity to present its new gameplay trailer, showing what I presume is an early sequence where Lara and an assistant make a mountain approach to some mysterious ruins. But of course, since Lara has all the luck, a sudden storm kicks off an avalanche and prompts a fast-paced run to safety. The mechanics shown here aren’t very different from the last entry in the series, but the snow-covered environment is gorgeous – and we also get some teases of enemies and settings Lara will meet later on.
The big news, however is the Nov. 10 release date – which pits Rise of the Tomb Raider directly against the hotly-anticipated Fallout 4. Combined with Tomb Raider‘s Xbox One exclusive-status, it remains to be seen how it will fare in this year’s holiday line-up.
