Rockstar is betting big on multiplayer Max Payne 3.
Max Payne 3 is just a couple weeks away, or a bit longer if you’re of the PC persuasion, and that means it’s time to start talking about DLC. Rockstar has some big plans for post-release multiplayer Max, starting with the Local Justice map pack, which is slated to come out in June. Local Justice will feature the “Police Precinct” map for Gang Wars, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Payne Killer modes as well as two additional maps for Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Payne Killer, new avatar items, “multiplayer challenges” and more.
And it’s just the first of seven – yes, seven – multiplayer updates planned for the game. Later this summer we’ll get the Disorganized Crime map pack, the Deathmatch Made in Heaven mode pack [no idea what that is], the Hostage Negotiation map pack and the New York Minute co-op pack, followed by the Painful Memories map pack and the Trickle Down Economics map pack in the fall.
And if the idea of springing for all these map packs leaves you a little weak in the knees, the Rockstar Pass is now available for preorder through Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, and also at Best Buy and GameStop stores in the U.S. The Rockstar Pass sells for $29.99 or 2400 Microsoft Points and grants access to all upcoming Max Payne 3 DLC, a discount of more than 35 percent off the individual DLC price.
As for single-player DLC, you can add that to the list of things you want, right behind a smoke, a whiskey, the sun to shine, to sleep, to forget, to change your past, to get your wife and baby girl back, and unlimited ammo and a license to kill.
Max Payne 3 comes out on May 15 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and May 29 for the PC.
