Rumor: Donald Glover to Return as Lando Calrissian in Disney+ Show

Rumor: Donald Glover to Return to Role of Lando Calrissian in Star Wars Disney+ Show Calrissian Chronicles

Take this with a grain of salt and then add the rest of the salt in the Dead Sea, but a rumor has sprung up that Disney is planning a Star Wars Lando Calrissian show on Disney+ with Donald Glover returning to the role. The rumor crops up at the tail end of the latest episode of the Kessel Run Transmissions podcast focusing on another unconfirmed rumor that Hayden Christensen might return for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. The hosts begin discussing the possibility of the Lando show happening and say that it is already in the works, with the name Calrissian Chronicles being tossed around.

Obviously this is a rumor so there are no specific details, but Calrissian Chronicles sounds like the kind of name that doesn’t make it past the development stage of a show. Glover would reprise the role that he played in Solo: A Star Wars Story, which is a bit of a surprise given that film was considered a disappointment by Disney and triggered the pause on Star Wars movies being released after The Rise of Skywalker. However, Glover’s Lando Calrissian was one of the few universally praised aspects of Solo and Glover is a massive star, so it makes sense that if Disney is planning to dip back into the Han Solo mythos that it would head in this direction.

Disney+ seems to be the new home for all things Star Wars as Disney’s film plans continue to be a mystery. While Disney does have some Star Wars films in development, it’s going harder on Disney+ where The Mandalorian and Clone Wars were major successes. This includes the Clone Wars spin-off The Bad Batch, the aforementioned Obi-Wan series, the next season of The Mandalorian, and the Cassian Andor Rogue One prequel. It seems, for now, Star Wars is far more a TV franchise than a film one in Disney’s eyes.
