Nintendo allegedly has more plans to release future Nintendo Switch revisions according to a new report. Digitimes says the titan publisher isn’t wasting any time when it comes to pushing out its next Switch model, with production on the new console planned to start at the end of first-quarter 2020, or, in other words, sometime before the end of March. There’s no word on when the revision would see a proper reveal if legitimate, but the report claims fans can expect to see this next model on store shelves mid-2020.
Where the recently released Nintendo Switch Lite focused on providing a more portable experience, this new model is said to come packed with a magnesium alloy body and better CPU. However, Digitimes’ track record with Nintendo reports isn’t spotless, so approach this with skepticism.
Nonetheless, Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki noted on Twitter how the story from Digitimes aligned with a report of his own from last August. Mochizuki had previously said Nintendo had two models planned to release that were aimed to “make the platform’s lifecycle long.” One of these two models was eventually revealed to be the Switch Lite.

An older article from Mochizuki last year stated this more powerful Switch would be “targeted at avid videogamers,” though he said not to expect it to match the power of either the PlayStation 4 Pro or Xbox One X.
Nintendo has yet to make any official announcement, so time will tell how this intel pans out.
The Switch Lite has seen a strong reception since its launch last September with the mini device boosting Nintendo’s console sales, so deciding to continue on with future revisions could make sense.
