Scathe Is a Doom-Inspired Bullet Hell FPS with Drop-In, Drop-Out Co-Op

Scathe is a first-person shooter (FPS) bringing bullet-hell gameplay and heavy Doom inspiration to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S in 2022. The game and its grand scale were revealed today via a trailer from developer Damage State Ltd and publisher Kwalee (via Gematsu). Every blood-pumping trigger pull requires fast reflexes if you want to slay Scathe’s many, many demon enemies. Unlike other similar titles, however, drop-in / drop-out online co-op will be available for those looking to rip and tear with friends. Per its Steam page, Scathe players are tasked with gathering collectibles called Hellstones as they blast their way through the bullet hell’s handcrafted winding maze. A wide assortment of different weapons will help you throughout the bloody journey, including the Bow Blade, Hot Hatch, and lots of other appropriately named FPS tools. Upward of four players can play together online, but Damage State and Kwalee warn that all players share the same pool of lives.

You are Scathe, Enforcer of the Legions of Hell, forged from the earth by the Divine Creator himself. And you, like your fallen kin before you, must prove your worth by navigating a deviously crafted maze, entangled with demonic evil at every twist and turn. So, grab your Hell Hammer and get ready to unleash your almighty fury!
Use Scathe’s brute strength and extreme speed to purge your way through Hell’s most grotesque abominations, as you search for the Hellstones and defeat the all-powerful Guardians that protect them.
