Sabotage Studio’s dreamy turn-based RPG, Sea of Stars, has been delayed to 2023, but a demo might arrive later this year as a consolation. Sabotage provided an update on the Sea of Stars release date on social media today, offering an explanation for fans who have been looking forward to the next project from the team behind The Messenger.
“As we are closing in on a very big milestone the road to launch becomes clearer, and we find ourselves here with a large body of text and our logos at the bottom,” stated the development team. “Keeping in mind our two main priorities — quality of life for our team and quality of the finished game — we can now confirm that Sea of Stars will be released in 2023.”
Although the Sea of Stars release date delay is bittersweet, Sabotage says it is exploring how to give players a “playable slice” to try later this year.

Sea of Stars was previously planned to launch for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch in holiday 2022. It is also expected to come to additional platforms that have yet to be announced. The game was announced in 2020 as a prequel to ninja sidescroller The Messenger. The games are very different from one another, but so far, Sea of Stars looks to be a follow-up that is even more confident than its predecessor.
