Columbia is revving up to bring Ghost Rider back to the silver screen.

Talks are taking place with director team Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, and actor Nicholas Cage for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, a sequel to the 2007 movie, which starred Cage as the titular Ghost Rider, a demonic spirit of retribution and vengeance. Neveldine and Taylor have directed both Crank movies and Gamer, as well as writing the screenplay for Jonah Hex.

The first Ghost Rider movie made nearly $230 million worldwide, despite fairly poor reviews. Columbia only had a limited window in which to start work on a sequel before the rights reverted back to Marvel. Spirit of Vengeance’s script was written by David Goyer, who also wrote The Dark Knight, and the studio hopes to start shooting by late fall.
