See How to Remove the Batman: Arkham Knight FPS Cap With This Tutorial

Batman Arkham Knight Logo Large

For those PC players looking to take control of their Batman: Arkham Knight experience, it’s possible to remove two annoying features included in the Dark Knight’s final Rocksteady action adventure. See how to unlock annoying FPS caps and how to permanently remove startup logos and get into the game faster with two quick PC tutorials.

Even with limitless computing power, an unchanged copy of Arkham Knight can’t exceed 30 FPS. Why? Because the framerate has been locked to match its console system requirements. Buck the trend and free your frames if you’ve got the computing power to push it.

For those willing to delve into installation files, the FPS cap is an easy fix. Unlocking the maximum FPS “feature” is a breeze if you know where to look. See what exactly needs to change with our guide below, and see how to remove those slow startup logos while you’re at it.

Arkham Knight PC Tweaks & Tutorials

Warning: These tweaks require altering installation files. If you’re new or unfamiliar to tweaking, copy and save back-up versions of any changed files. Improper alterations may require reinstallation to repair.

How to Unlock the FPS Cap

To change your FPS Cap and set it to 60 (or more) find the “Config” folder in your Arkham Knight installation folder.

  • Example:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Knight\BMGame\Config

Open “BmSystemSettings.ini” with any text editor (Notepad, Open Office, etc) and search for the entry “MaxFPS=30.000000” — the search bar is toggled by pressing Control-F.

Once you find “MaxFPS=30.000000“, change it to your desired FPS.

  • Example:
    MaxFPS=60.000000

Save “BmSystemSettings.ini” and close the file. The FPS cap will be increased the next time you start your game.

How to Disable Startup Logos

To remove startup logos / scenes, look for a folder called “Movies” in your Arkham Knight installation folder.

  • Example:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Knight\BMGame\Movies

Look for two files:

  • ntro_BM3Logo_fire.usm

&

  • nv_logo.usm

Change the titles on these two files. Anything will do. Put a word in the title to make these files easier to identify, in case you want to restore them later.

  • Example:
    ntro_BM3Logo_fireREMOVED.usm & nv_logoREMOVED.usm

Now Arkham Knight will load directly to the main menu on startup.
