Alongside the Switch version, some big changes are coming to Shovel Knight, allowing players to purchase individual campaigns as stand-alone games.
Some really big news from Yacht Club Games regarding everyone’s favorite shovel-wielding knight today. Not only is Shovel Knight making its way to the Nintendo Switch, its also getting a major overhaul, which includes plenty of new content, and a new way for players to purchase individual campaigns.
Basically, as it stands right now, if you own Shovel Knight you get all of its DLC for free, including the Plague of Shadows campaign released last year. When the overhaul happens, players who already own Shovel Knight will be “upgraded” to Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove while new players will have to purchase Treasure Trove at an increased price point or purchase each of the game’s individual campaigns separately.
Confused? I was too. There’s a Q & A but it doesn’t help too much, and is missing some key information such as when exactly this shift will happen, and how much the new Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove and the individual campaigns will cost.
Additionally, the game’s Body Swap Mode is complete and will be included as a free update, as will local two-player co-op (for all versions except 3DS and Vita).
