Six Days in Fallujah Delayed to Q4 2022, Is Doubling Dev Team Size

Six Days in Fallujahd delayed Q4 2022 release date to double team size Tamte, Victura, Highwire, delay

Publisher Victura and developer Highwire Games have announced that their controversial military shooter, Six Days in Fallujah, has been delayed to Q4 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S. A statement on the Six Days in Fallujah website explains it was delayed out of its original 2021 release window in order to nearly double the size of the development team.

Victura CEO Peter Tamte offered the following: “It became clear that recreating these true stories at a high quality was going to require more people, capital, and time than we had. Doubling our team is just one of many things we’re doing to make sure Six Days in Fallujah brings new kinds of tactical and emotional depth to military shooters.”

Six Days in Fallujah began as an in-development title at Konami before controversy regarding its depictions of the Iraq War saw it shelved in 2009. When Highwire and Victura announced plans to revive the project earlier this year, more controversy followed soon after. Much of this is stems from comments made by Tamte, who told Polygon that the team is “not trying to make a political commentary about whether or not the war itself was a good or a bad idea.” Victura later walked back that message, saying that it understands “the events recreated in Six Days in Fallujah are inseparable from politics.”

While the decision to double the team’s size sounds drastic, it’s unclear how substantially Six Days in Fallujah will change thanks to this sizable new delay.
