The YouTube channel Netflix After School has dropped a sizzle reel including several upcoming animated series headed to the streamer, and chief among them is the new 3D animated series Sonic Prime. As previously reported, the series will premiere sometime in 2022 with 24 episodes. Sonic will go on “a race to save the universe” that is also “a journey of self-discovery and redemption.” The series will additionally receive a toy line and costumes in 2023. But today is our first look at what Sonic Prime actually looks like, in the trailer below and in a couple images released.

Other animated Netflix series to receive a first look in the sizzle reel include Daniel Spellbound, Dead End: Paranormal Park, Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight, My Dad the Bounty Hunter, and We Lost Our Human. It also offers a reminder of returning series like Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, The Cuphead Show!, Sharkdog, and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. The point is that Netflix has a lot of content coming for children, so please don’t cancel your Netflix account they’re begging you.

Now that we have first-look images and this animated glimpse, it seems safe to say that Netflix will not make any radical changes to the franchise for Sonic Prime. It looks like typical hero stuff, which is probably all that fans want. Hopefully this will continue a renaissance of suspiciously good Sonic content.
