Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Final Trailer Reveals Basically Everything

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 final trailer spoils everything spoilers galore Sega Paramount Pictures

Up until now the trailers forĀ Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (the movie) have done a pretty good job at revealing just enough without showing everything off, but that’s all gone out the window with the final trailer. The new trailer dropped today and basically shows us everything, from plenty of Knuckles to Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik in a plethora of costumes and robots, mostly lifted from the games.

Honestly, if this weren’t the sequel to the surprisingly good first film, it would all seem a bit much. But given the good faith established by the original, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 actually looks pretty fun in its final trailer. In the sequel, Sonic is still living with Tom, but the arrival of Tails and the return of Dr. Robotnik from the strange planet he was imprisoned on make things messy again. Robotnik has discovered the powers of the Chaos Emeralds and is looking to use them to take over the world, and he’s tricked Knuckles into fighting for him. It’s straight out of the games, except with more humans.

The creative team and cast behind the first film are returning, including director Jeff Fowler and screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller. Aside from James Marsden and Jim Carrey, the cast includes Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, and Adam Pally returning, alongside new additions Shemar Moore, with Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as the voice of Tails.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will release on April 8.
