The Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Speeds into Theaters December 2024

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie

Sonic. He’s the fastest thing alive. And also pretty popular. Not only in the video game world, but the film world as well. So much so in the latter, a Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie was greenlit, along with a Knuckles miniseries. While there aren’t any updates on Knuckles’ adventure, we now have a solid release date for the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie: It’s heading to theaters on December 20, 2024.

Check out the official announcement:

I can’t wait for our three heroes to team up again. Especially since (spoiler alert) Shadow the Hedgehog showed up in a teaser at the end of the last movie. Hopefully, he’ll be voiced by someone super dark and edgy, like Robert Pattinson. We have his performance in The Batman to back that up.

While it’s safe to assume Idris Elba will reprise his role as Knuckles, the jury is out on Jim Carrey returning as Robotnik. The actor did state he was retiring from acting, after all. Whether this means Robotnik will be written out of the story completely or replaced with a new actor is anyone’s guess. Personally, I found Carrey’s portrayal of Robotnik to be grating in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, so I wouldn’t mind another person filling the role.

At any rate, the wait for the 2024 release date of the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie is on.
