South Park: The Stick of Truth Gets A Surprise Superhero Sequel

South Park: The Stick of Truth is getting a brand-new sequel and superhero parody in The Fractured But Whole.

South Park: The Stick of Truth was one of 2014’s surprise hits, completely lambasting RPG and video game conventions while being a fun game itself. Now Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Ubisoft San Francisco have united to present the next chapter – a sequel that mocks gaming’s desire to churn out more sequels. That game is South Park: The Fractured But Whole, where Cartman, Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and the New Kid reunite for a new live-action roleplay, only this time breaking into the blockbuster world of superheroes.

As revealed by Parker and Stone at Ubisoft’s E3 2015 press event, South Park: The Fractured But Whole directly follows from the events of The Stick of Truth. After the success of his last live-action RPG, Cartman decides to reunite everyone for a new game that’s bigger than the original. But surpassing it means going bigger than fantasy tropes – it means superheroes Coon and Friends will have to fight against the destructive yet charmingly adorable Professor Chaos.

Based on Parker and Stone’s on-stage banter, it sounds like The Stick of Truth‘s protagonist, “The New Kid”, will also make a appearance. The main difference is this game will explore his origins and what makes him so powerful – something that may have something to do with his butthole. That could have been a joke on the South Park creators part, but I’m willing to bet it’s probably not far from the truth. And I can’t wait.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is available for pre-order now, although the release date itself isn’t available just yet.
