Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) is the official name of the sequel to the Oscar-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and it has received a first-look teaser trailer. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) will be coming to theaters on October 7, 2022, and the name of the movie basically guarantees that Sony Pictures already has in-depth plans for a third film as well.
This Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) first-look teaser trailer doesn’t offer any major insights into the plot. It mostly just consists of Spider-Gwen traveling across the multiverse to drop in on Miles Morales in his room, to invite him to go on a multiverse adventure. There is a glimpse of Spider-Man 2099 though. The YouTube video description only offers a bit more, stating Miles will travel “across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.”
Who that villain is has not been specified. However, if it’s following the comics that inspired the “Spider-Verse” at all, it should probably be Morlun, a vampire-like villain created by Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski and artist John Romita Jr. Morlun is one of the scariest villains Peter Parker Spider-Man ever faced, so Miles Morales and the other Spider-People could have their work cut out for them. In any case, check out the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) first-look teaser trailer below and start weaving wild theories.
