Insomniac Games announced today that a new patch for Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PlayStation 5 has gone up with a handy addition. It gives players the option to play the title in a new mode called “Performance RT.” According to the explanation in the game’s settings, Performance RT is an alternate version of the 60 FPS Performance mode that adds ray tracing by adjusting the scene resolution, reflection quality, and pedestrian density within the game’s setting of New York City. The patch is 261.9 MB in size.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales was revealed back in June during Sony’s PlayStation 5 event as a smaller adventure akin to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in scope. Insomniac Games faced unexpected outcry over a revision of Peter Parker’s face from 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man. On the bright side, Miles Morales received a special costume that replicated the hero’s costume as it appeared in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and the title went on to receive positive reception, including from The Escapist. Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Many more games are in the works for PlayStation 5, as outlined in a recent video that notably revealed Square Enix’s Project Athia will be a two-year console exclusive.
