LocoCycle is a game about a motorbike doing kung fu. What more do you people want?
‘Splosion Man developer and renowned meat-enthusiast-haven, Twisted Pixel, has been suspiciously quiet since 2011’s Ms. Splosion Man. Just when we were beginning to think there’d been some kind of terrible, possibly pop-culture related, accident, the developer has released a trailer for its new game, LocoCycle.
LocoCycle tells the tale of an experimental, sentient motorcycle named I.R.I.S who, as sentient machines are wont to do, promptly escapes from her creators. She immediately takes to the open road, dragging her unfortunate rider behind her. Sent to recapture I.R.I.S are an army of jetpack toting mooks, armed vehicles and a second sentient motorcycle named S.P.I.K.E.
I.R.I.S is being voiced by gaming pundit and former Escapist contributor, Lisa Foiles, while S.P.I.K.E’s voice actor is none other than Robert Patrick, best known as the T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day. So yeah, there might be a teensy bit of type casting going on there.
The gameplay appears to be a mix of straight up driving, shooting and some third-person melee combat, as I.R.I.S is quite capable of contorting herself like a Loony Toons character to punch people in the face. Or kick them in the face. Or wheel them in the face. Whatever.
There’s no exact release date for LocoCycle just yet, but it is expected to come out in 2013. As Twisted Pixel was bought by Microsoft Studios back in October of last year, the smart money is on this being an XBLA exclusive.
