Google’s Stadia Pro subscription is free for anyone with a Gmail address to try for the next two months. Google announced the decision to open the doors to gamers in 14 countries in light of social distancing measures that have gone into effect worldwide due to the coronavirus pandemic, giving those hesitant about the service a chance to try Stadia for two full months. As the trial rolls out over the next 48 hours, those already subscribing to the platform’s Pro model won’t be charged the usual $9.99 per month for the next two months.
Signing up for Stadia Pro will grant you instant access to nine games:
- Destiny 2: The Collection
- GRID
- Gylt
- Serious Sam Collection
- Spitlings
- Stacks on Stacks (on Stacks)
- SteamWorld Dig 2
- SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech
- Thumper
If none of the above grab your attention, know that Stadia Pro members get new games each month. Additionally, you can purchase more games if you find yourself wanting a little more.
Google added that it is looking into a temporary feature that fixes the default resolution from 4K to 1080p in order to help lessen the impact the service has on internet traffic at present. For Gmail users wanting to know more regarding account setup, Google shared a walkthrough page to help simplify things.
Stadia was revealed a little over a year ago but has seen a rather rocky start since launching in November 2019. However, Google has been adamant about pouring more content into the service, with Gears Tactics developer Splash Damage announcing recently it’s working on a Stadia-exclusive title.
