GSC Game World has unveiled a fresh look at its long-awaited shooter sequel, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 (STALKER 2) via IGN today. The footage amounts to about 30 seconds of what seems to be vertical slice gameplay, as the main character enters and walks through a ruined building before pulling out some kind of digital device.
The teaser shows off lavish environmental detail, alongside impressive environmental effects. Outside the building, the world is lashed by a storm that sees trees felled and curtains and particles blown about. The accompanying blurb from GSC Game World says the footage shows “how the game actually feels: fast-paced change of scenery, ominous landscapes and the ever-present feeling of an inevitable danger accompanied by a barely distinguishable guitar soundtrack.”
This version of STALKER 2 was announced in 2018, after an earlier attempt was canceled back in 2012. The game will follow a character named Skif and is said to include a branching story in an open-world setting. The development team shared a longer video earlier this year showing off more of the world and the chilling atmosphere that the game is set to evoke.
STALKER 2 is set to launch first on Xbox Series X | S (with day one availability via Game Pass) and PC at some point next year.
