Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Announces Rest of Cast & Characters

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds cast characters video revealed announced CBS All Access

Last night Star Trek celebrated its 55th anniversary with a big event focusing on the history of the show and what’s to come. Many fans were hoping that part of that “what’s to come” would be the first trailer for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. That didn’t happen. However, Paramount did reveal the rest of the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds cast and exactly who they will be playing.

We knew that Anson Mount would be playing Captain Christopher Pike with Rebecca Romijn joining him as Number One and Ethan Peck taking on the role of Spock as they did in Star Trek: Discovery, but now the rest of the bridge crew has been fleshed out. Celia Rose Gooding will be tackling the historic role of Cadet Nyota Uhura from the original series alongside Jess Bush taking up the smaller The Original Series role of Nurse Christine Chapel. The final, smaller, returning character is Dr. M’Benga played by Babs Olusanmokun.

The rest of the cast is playing new characters in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, though fans should recognize the last name of Christina Chong’s character, La’an Noonien Singh. Rounding out the announced cast of original characters are Melissa Navia as Lt. Erica Ortegas and Bruce Horak as Hemmer, an Andorian, a planet that was a founding member of the Federation.

Strange New Worlds is many Trek fans’ hope for a return to form for the franchise as it has been promised that the series will be more episodic adventure than the extended “movie” seasons we’ve had with Discovery and Picard. We’ll have to wait and see if the show can boldly go where Trek has gone before.
