Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Teaser Trailer Delivers Hope

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds teaser trailer Paramount+ Plus Captain Pike Number One Spock

Paramount+ has dropped the teaser trailer for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which premieres on the streaming service on May 5. The series is about Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) when he helmed the U.S.S. Enterprise, making it a prequel to The Original Series. He will be accompanied by Number One (Rebecca Romijn) and Science Officer Spock (Ethan Peck) as they deliver on the titular promise of exploring new worlds.

Unlike recent Paramount+ Star Trek series, which have become dark and gritty, this series will reportedly have a more hopeful tone. The Star Trek: Strange New Worlds teaser trailer certainly has that feeling anyway, even though all it really shows is a bunch of pretty landscape shots with some sparse narration. Additionally, Strange New Worlds will apparently return to more traditionally episodic Star Trek adventures. Perhaps Pike and co. can save one world per week.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has already been renewed for a season 2, along with many other Trek renewals. Star Trek: Picard season 2 just started, for instance. Meanwhile, a new Star Trek movie set in the Kelvin continuity is scheduled to land this year, even though almost nobody in the cast knew they were in the movie.
