Eight of our favorite Star Wars characters that Disney decided aren’t canon. Did your favorite non-canon character make the list?
Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade spawned the Jedi Ben Skywalker. He wasn’t trained by his father, but by his cousin Jacen Solo. His childhood was ruined by the fact that he was a Skywalker: That last name doesn’t get you a peaceful life growing up.
Revan may have existed 4,000 years before the first film, but he was still an influential character. From his youth he was a Jedi that devoured knowledge of the force. He also showed an interest in the Sith, which helped him gain as much information as possible on his enemies.
This descendant of many a Skywalker before him, Cade Skywalker was once a Jedi Knight. After his father’s death he grew somewhat disillusioned and became a bounty hunter and pirate. So it seems that he took after his great-great-great-uncle.
General Rahm Kota was one of the luck few that survived Order 66. After that whole genocide thing he went on to be hunted down by Starkiller, which ultimately led to him becoming blind. Not the worst way to leave a fight with a Sith – most Jedi had seen worse.
Darth Bane has no relation to the Bane of Batman fame. This Bane lives 1,000 years before the rise of the Empire. He revived the old Sith ways and made them what they are today. He felt forced into the Sith life after a brawl turned deadly.
Jacen Solo, or Darth Caedus to his friends, is the son of Han Solo and Leia Skywalker. He was trained in the Force by Luke Skywalker, a good teacher to have if you don’t mind the initial whining. Though once a Jedi Knight he became Darth Caedus, a Sith Lord not to be trifled with.
Exar Kun was once a Jedi, although not the best Jedi you could imagine. Even while sparring he would let his rage take over, not a great habit to have be you Jedi or Sith. He later went on to become a powerful Sith Lord, it seems that the Sith are the Yankees of their galaxy and just draft the most dangerous Jedi available regardless of personality.
Dash Rendar, born into wealthy Corellian family, was a smuggler. According to Lando Calrissian, “He’s a good man to have at your back when the going gets hot.” And to quote our very own Paul Goodman, “He’s awesome.”
Galen Marek, who saw his father die at the hands of Darth Vader, was trained by Darth Vader to become a powerful warrior. At Vader’s behest he began hunting the rogue Jedi that escaped the fate of Order 66. He took the name Starkiller – a nice easter egg for those who know their history.
