Starfield was revealed all the way back in 2018, and now, at this year’s Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, we finally have a good look at gameplay. Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard took the stage at the conference to talk about the extended gameplay demo shown, with players asked to take a step into the developer’s new, futuristic world. Right off the bat, Starfield looks like it could be Bethesda’s most visually impressive open world yet, as the player can be seen walking around imaginative planets that are literally crawling with wildlife.
The Starfield gameplay demo starts out quiet, as the player explores and gathers resources, but it doesn’t take long for them to run into a group of enemy pirates. This is where gunplay and combat finally get to shine, with the player character using a rifle, a pistol, and a shotgun. There’s so much more to see, including in-depth character customization, space combat, and ship-building, so check out Starfield’s zero-gravity gameplay in the footage below.
Bethesda Game Studios’ massive sci-fi has been elusive thus far, with Bethesda only drip-feeding information about its ambitious title through the years. Although it was originally set to launch later this year, Starfield was recently delayed to the first half of 2023.
