If you watched the first seven episodes that compose Stranger Things 4 Volume 1, then you know it ended on quite the cliffhanger with a lot of unresolved conflict. Today, Netflix released a trailer for the final two episodes of the season, which compose Stranger Things 4 Volume 2, and it is really epic.
Eleven seems to have a major “Luke Skywalker on Dagobah in The Empire Strikes Back” moment where she decides to rescue her friends from danger despite being told by her mentor that she isn’t ready yet. Lucas has a straight-up brawl with Jason. Steve and Eddie might be going on a rescue mission. Lots of people are collecting lots of guns. There’s a flamethrower and military vehicles. There are basically nonstop threats that characters are going to die. Stranger Things 4 Volume 2 is how you make an epic trailer without spoiling the entire story.
Even though only two episodes remain in the season, they are both effectively movie-length. Episode 8 is 1 hour and 25 minutes, while episode 9 is a full 2 hours and 30 minutes. When this season of the show began, there were worries that these longer episode times would lead to meandering, bloated storytelling, but most fans seem to agree that Stranger Things has used the additional time pretty well to make better use of its vast ensemble cast. The roughly four hours of Stranger Things 4 that remain should be plenty of time to put a satisfying resolution on it all.
Stranger Things 4 Volume 2 premieres July 1.
