Street Fighter Boss Moves to Sony

Capcom’s former marketing chief Seth Killian is now a Playstation All-Star Battle Royale man.

Seth Killian – the man so deeply involved in the Street Fighter franchise that they named a boss character in Street Fighter IV after him – has found a new home at Sony. The former Capcom marketing man has become lead game designer for the external group at Sony’s Santa Monica studio, and will be working on titles like All-Star Battle Royale. His first high-profile act as a Sony man will be to present Battle Royale at the Evolution Championship in Vegas this weekend.

“Fighting games are very close to my heart,” Killian said in his inaugural post on the PlayStation blog, before going on to announce his attendance at EVO. He’s working at the same studio that makes God of War: Ascension and The Unfinished Swan, and says that there’s “nowhere else that I know where you can find that kind of diversity combined with such a deep commitment to greatness.”

As the external group lead designer, Killian will be working with Queasy Games, Fun Bits Interactive and Sony’s other third party affiliates, which means he’ll be deeply involved not just with fighting games but also a variety of Sony’s other projects. However it’s Battle Royale that Killian says he has his heart set on; he wants Battle Royale to recreate that ‘one more game’ feeling, where “it’s 3am and you have to work the next day, but you’ve still got the urge to play again.”

Killian promises to take Battle Royale on the road for plenty of demonstrations, at EVO and elsewhere.
