While The West Wing was never really my thing – mostly because my proto-human teenage cynicism wouldn’t let me emotionally invest in a show that puts a positive spin on American politics – I got into The Newsroom in a big way. Like most of Sorkin’s work, it’s so far up its own arse it’s looking at the back of its own eyeballs, but there’s usually enough funny character interaction (Olivia Munn absolutely kills it as Sloan Sabbith) to counteract the sheer sopaboxery of it all.
