Take care, the developers advise; carelessness has its consequences.
Tangiers is one for the surrealists out there, a Thief-like title which has you creeping through immense, symbol-laden landscapes, inspired by the likes of Dada, Man Ray and Throbbing Gristle. Perhaps you’ll plan a careful infiltration so as not to be seen at all, or gather up the discarded words of strangers so you can later fling them down the street to act as a distraction while you sneak past. You can explore its open-ended world as you see fit but, the developers warn, “carelessness has its consequences.”
This is a labor of love from the very small development team at Andalusian Games. The title’s taken from William Burroughs’ work, and – in tribute to Burroughs’ cut-up writing method – the world reshapes itself as you interact with it. “Fragments of previously visited areas will become mixed with undiscovered areas,” Andalusian says, “building an experience unique to each play-through.”
For those who want more, there’s a Facebook page over here you may want to take a look at. This title is scheduled for a mid-2014 release.
