The Kickstarter’s still going strong, and has less than a week to go.
Tangiers, the surrealist stealth game under development by independent developers Andalusian – which basically means two guys in a leaky shack somewhere in the bleak wilderness – is going one step further than Kickstarter, and has taken its game to Steam’s Greenlight. “Please vote for us!” Andalusian asks. It’s also taking Tangiers to Desura and will be maintaining its own store front, but as any independent knows, it’s a hell of a coup to be on Steam.
Tangiers‘ Kickstarter, which has 6 days on the clock and a little over £30,000 pledged at time of writing, is looking for £35,000 to get started. Tangiers draws on the likes of William Burroughs, Dadaism, and Thief to create a game environment in which everything is in flux, and even idle words dropped by passers-by can be your weapons. How will you deal with your targets? Better question: how will you navigate a world in which reality itself changes moment by moment? Alex Harvey and Michael Wright – the brains behind Tangiers – gave up their day jobs to make this work, and now they’re within sight of their goal.
Linkage, glorious linkage: see the Kickstarter, the web page, and now the Steam Greenlight page. You’ll be glad you did. Go vote!
