The developers noted that they released a gameplay trailer back in April 2019, knowing that it could very well be their last release. “In spite of our best efforts to continue, ultimately we had to make the difficult decision to halt development on the project,” read the tweet. However, they mentioned that they might come back to the project one day and genuinely appreciate the support they received throughout the years of development.

Additionally, The Outsiders has also announced that the studio will be working on a brand new project and that they “look forward to being able to share it all with you very very soon.”

Darkborn was first known as Archenemy and then became Project Wight until finally settling on its current name. Players assumed the role of a young monster, part of the Darkborn species. Players would have learned about the motivations of the Viking-like marauders who were killing their species, and then they would have enacted revenge on them.

Darkborn was originally planned to release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
