The System Shock remake from Nightdive Studios has received a release window, new teaser trailer, and a new PC demo. The remake of the 1994 FPS RPG is now scheduled to launch on Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, and Amazon Luna sometime late this summer, and today’s teaser sets the tone for the game quite nicely. PC players can go hands-on with the game’s opening chapter with the System Shock demo that is available now.
Preorders are open today as well, and those who pre-purchase the game will be granted access to System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition when that game eventually launches.
Nightdive’s System Shock remake recreates the original game with HD visuals, new controls, revamped hacking, and new areas on the Citadel Station for players to discover. The project gained traction on Kickstarter, and with today’s news, the studio published a statement on the site to give fans an update:
Our development road was bumpy (to say the least) – but ultimately what you’re playing is the vision and experience we set out to create and the adversity and challenges we’ve faced along the way has only improved the final game. The team has evolved and grown considerably and we hope that the end product will meet your expectations. With all that said we are planning on a late Summer 2021 release date.
We spoke to Nightdive about the game early last year, where they talked about how the team is dedicated to creating a faithful remake for fans of the original. Meanwhile, System Shock 3 has been in development for some time, though its development has been rocky, to say the least.
