Techland has offered clarification regarding the estimate that it will take 500 hours to complete everything in Dying Light 2 Stay Human. Basically, it seems you’ll only ever hit that colossal number if you replay the game multiple times. Techland has posted a new graphic on social media that gets more specific about projected completion times, and it estimates that completing the main story of Dying Light 2 will only take about 20 hours.
Dying Light 2 players who want to go beyond the 20 hours of the main story to complete every sidequest will be playing for 80 or more hours. Meanwhile, reaching that 500-hour mark involves completing every choice and ending, visiting every location on the map, finding all the collectibles, and exploring every location on the map. However, while Techland’s internal QA calculated that it takes 500 hours to complete absolutely everything, the developer is emphatic that you don’t need to dedicate your life to the game to enjoy it.
“We are fortunate to have a very passionate community of fans who have been returning to the original Dying Light throughout the last seven years and we know they can’t wait to truly lose themselves in our latest work,” Techland said.

Techland gave its initial promise of “500 hours” to fully complete the game over the weekend. While some fans were pleased to hear the news, others responded with confusion and skepticism, spurring today’s clarification and Techland assuring that the main story of Dying Light 2 will only take 20 hours. However, more content is promised to arrive post-launch, with the studio saying that it plans to share more information on that front “in the coming weeks.”
