“Battle Focus” is how you’ll lead your squad of grizzled FBI agents against a remorseless enemy with overwhelming technical superiority in The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.
The fast cuts in this trailer make it tricky to tell precisely how it will work, but the radial menu on display in this trailer for third-person tactical shooter The Bureau: XCom Declassified looks straightforward and simple enough to be effective in the heat of battle. More interestingly, it also makes The Bureau appear very much more like a conventional XCom game, with relatively detailed squad management playing a potentially vital role in your battle against alien invaders.
It’s a big change from the XCom shooter as it was originally presented, which appeared to be a fairly conventional first-person affair, although as noted in our May preview the truly unsocial among you will probably be able to blast through most of the game Gears-style, without bothering with teammates. I’m a little surprised by the presence of friendly laser turrets, given the era in which the game is set, but it’s nice to see that even when you’re squaring off against alien invaders from beyond the moon, you can still get the job done by socking someone in the jaw.
The Bureau: XCom Declassified is scheduled to launch on August 20 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
