The First Descendant Trailer Sets Beta Dates With Three Minutes of Stunning Sci-Fi Action
South Korean video game company Nexon is kicking off Gamescom 2022 by revealing a sleek beta test trailer for The First Descendant, a free-to-play, sci-fi co-op shooter coming to PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. This full trailer comes in at a staggering three minutes filled with action that teases one of the more visually appealing third-person shooters in recent memory.

The First Descendant looks more like Warframe than Anthem thanks to its emphasis on speed and colorful, superpowered beings that use special abilities to shred through oceans of enemies. Specifically, the characters seen in the footage are Lepic, Viessa, Bunny, and Ajax, four Descendants who are fighting back against an alien army led by the villain, Karel. The video might be best described as “organized chaos” thanks to the undeniably interesting world that surrounds the explosive combat.

As for those beta dates, Nexon says the test will take place from October 20 at midnight PDT to October 26 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. Console players are out of luck, however, as this test period will be for Steam users only. There will be 10 characters to choose from in the beta with more information on character classes set to arrive in the future. Those interested in seeing what The First Descendant has to offer can sign up on its Steam page. Be sure to watch today’s trailer (below) while you wait for the beta test to roll around.

The First Descendant is said to be an experience that lets players gear up and customize their characters to their heart’s desire. The battle ahead promises giant boss fights and strategic four-player co-op gameplay, but sadly, we’re still waiting to hear about when it will release. Nexon is set to deliver an exciting lead up to launch, though, so stay tuned for updates as we wait to hear more about what’s to come.
