As with anything that has ever been popular ever, The Simpsons is getting involved.
So while we may have seen Minecraft bleed into The Simpsons back in April last year, with a Minecraft-themed couch gag, it’s now time for Minecraft to return the favor, with some The Simpsons themed skins. Yes, the inevitable Minecraft/The Simpsons crossover is coming in February this year, because apparently everything that ever reaches a certain level of popularity gets The Simpsons involved somehow.
“We have an active community of more than 17 million die-hard Minecrafters on Xbox Live enjoying the wide range of downloadable content on Xbox, and they have been clamoring for us to bring Simpsons characters to the game,” said Phil Spencer, head of Xbox at Microsoft. “We are thrilled to partner with Twentieth Century Fox and Gracie Films to bring The Simpsons to life on Minecraft Xbox 360 and Xbox One editions. I can’t wait to see what the community creates.”
Scheduled for release in late February 2015, the downloadable pack will include the entire Simpsons family-Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie- plus 19 additional characters from “Springfield Elementary School” (which we are assuming will be Bart and Lisa’s classmates). The pack will set you back just $2, which is either really cheap or really expensive depending on how you look at it.
Like the previously released Minecraft skin packs, The Simpsons skin pack will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of the game, though we are assuming some modder has already made (or will soon shortly make) them as a free download on the PC version.
So there you go, The Simpsons continues its global dominance. All hail our yellow overlords.
