The PlayStation 5 update for The Last of Us Part II has arrived, adding the option to experience the game in 60 FPS. Naughty Dog director of communications Arne Meyer has detailed the free update in a PlayStation.Blog post. It’s pretty simple – after you download the 1.08 update for The Last of Us Part II, you’ll find the option to play the game in 60 FPS or 30 FPS in the game’s Display settings menu on PS5. The frame rate upgrade joins the other previously added enhancements available as part of the console’s backward-compatibility functionality.
Meyer also gave eager fans a bit of a hint regarding what to expect from Naughty Dog on PlayStation 5: “The team has been digging into the PS5 hardware and the possibilities it unlocks since launch last year and we’re excited about what the future holds. This patch is just the first step of working on the PS5. We’ll let you know when we’ve got more news to share!”
The Last of Us Part II arrived last year as the divisive sequel to Naughty Dog’s original PlayStation 3 exclusive. Though the studio has continued to provide game updates, there seems to be no DLC on the horizon. Meanwhile, studio head Neil Druckmann says that a story outline for The Last of Us Part III has already been written, though no such game is currently in production.
