It’s been more than three years since Daedalic unveiled its plans for a video game centered on J.R.R. Tolkien’s infamous ring-loving recluse. Since then, players have been promised a story-driven stealth-action game that tells a new story in The Lord of the Rings universe. Gollum’s split personality plays a major role, with players navigating the internal battle between his two personas in order to guide the story.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum finally arrives this September with its release date set. The Escapist got to see a sneak peek early last year and was left wondering if the game had really decided what it wanted to be yet. However, plenty of time has passed since then, so let’s hope things are looking more cohesive by the time that release date rolls around. Stay tuned for more information on The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, including when you can expect to see it come to Switch.
